Bizom has Raised $12 Million. So What? The CEO’s Take

A couple of weeks back, Bizom announced raising $12 million led by Pavestone with participation from IndiaMART and others. I just wanted to share a perspective of what it means for Bizom and its customers.

Whenever we talk about Bizom’s future, we always talk about our simple formula

We strongly believe that when we invest in a great team, give them great work and create value for them; the team builds great products creating disproportionate value for our customers resulting in greater wealth for our shareholders and investors. Let me elaborate our plans around each of these 3 pillars

PEOPLE

Bizom has been extremely successful in attracting, hiring, scaling and retaining some of the world’s best talent. We have many people who started at entry level roles and are now in leadership roles. This round allows us to build on top of our Algorithmic Jugaad method to scale the team. Following are a couple of areas we will invest more in coming years.

  • Hiring great talent: We are looking at strengthening our key account management, solution consulting, program and project management skills. Along with that, we are also investing heavily in scaling our data science teams to make Bizom’s real intelligence even stronger.   • Investing more in current talent: Bizom has been extremely successful in scaling the existing team. This investment will give us more ammunition to invest further in our learning programs around leadership, AI, and more. It also allows us to create more wealth for our teams along with learning fast. #workisfun

PRODUCT

Bizom is already the world leader in Route-to-market (RTM) digitisation space in emerging markets, with more than 600 brands, over 3,00,000 distributors, more than 1,50,000 field executives capturing transactions worth over $17 billion for more than 8 million retailers.

This gives our customers an immense advantage of working with the best, most comprehensive, scaleable, customisable platform. We have also built the world’s best delivery organisation to ensure that our customers succeed consistently. The scale allows our customers to handle change management challenges easily and enjoy the intelligence that comes with the massive scale of the platform. The Bizom platform is set to grow even further in the following 3 areas.

  • Furthering Real Intelligence: AI has made great strides over the past 2 years, making sure that many parts of our automation processes can be made easier and our users can focus on doing the “real intelligent” work leaving the mundane to the machines. Bizom has been a pioneer in driving that in the RTM ecosystem for the past 10 years. Our AI-native platform is set to be more intelligent. We will further our investments in technologies like voice recognition, augmented reality, virtual reality, geospatial intelligence to create immense value for our users and customers.
  • More arsenal on our platform: Bizom is no more just a product. We are a comprehensive platform. With Bizom our customers do not get separate apps like SFA, DMS, Retailer app, Merchandising app, Manager app or analytics. They get an integrated platform which deeply embeds all the areas of route to market seamlessly. On top of that, there are partners who are extending Bizom to provide our customers with extensions like image recognition, credit, loyalty, conversational commerce, e-commerce, logistics etc. We are now improving our platform’s capabilities to ensure that our product and channel partners are able to extend Bizom even further to serve our customer’s needs even better. Bizom is already the most customisable product in the ecosystem, but we are now set to go even further and allow more flexibility to our customers. Bizom will fit their needs even better by allowing them to customise the user experience and workflows even further.
  • Ecosystem not just a platform: We understand that Bizom is not just a tech platform. When our customers come to Bizom, they expect a full rollout experience including delivery, support, upgrades and service. While having the most extensible platform helps, Bizom has been actively investing in creating an ecosystem of implementation partners, delivery partners along with product partners. We are set to increase the velocity of building these relationships and making existing partnerships deeper across all emerging markets.

We are also investing in adding some platform extensions to the already comprehensive Bizom platform. We recently announced the addition of one such great extension. There are many more to come. We also remain open to adding more brands and users to the platform inorganically.

PROFIT

Bizom has been an amazing journey for me personally. Thanks to the faith of our customers, we have been able to run this business with extreme capital efficiency. This allows us to create wealth for our shareholders as well.

So far, at least 2 institutional investors and many individuals have already multiplied their investments. There have been a lot of employees who have created wealth through Bizom’s ESOPs. In the coming years, I am sure Bizom will continue to create wealth for investors and employees.

Overall, we are extremely thrilled that we now have more resources to scale this kickass team to create more value for our customers and users. We are all set to shape the future of RTM!
